Teresa is a general practitioner, specializing in the areas of real estate (purchases, sales and mortgage financing), wills and estate planning, estate administration and family law. She joined the firm following her call to the bar in 2010, and she has been a partner since 2018.
She obtained her Bachelor of Arts (Honours in Psychology and Concentration in Political Science) Magna Cum Laude in 2005. From 2001 to 2007, she held several different positions with the House of Commons and the Library of Parliament. She graduated from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law in 2009, having completed her law degree in the French Common Law section. She completed her articles by serving as a judicial law clerk at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Ottawa before becoming a member of the Ontario Law Society in 2010.
Teresa is known in the legal community as being a fair-minded, result-oriented counsel who cares deeply about the community she serves. She has been a panel member for the Office of the Children’s Lawyer since 2016, she was a Provincial Offences Court prosecutor for the County of Lanark since 2014-2022 and she has been a Deputy Judge for the Small Claims Court of Ontario since 2022. Teresa has completed several family mediation courses through Riverdale Mediation Services.
Teresa is the treasurer of the County of Lanark Law Association, having previously served as secretary from 2010 to 2017. She also currently sits on various professional and court-related committees, including the Family Law Liaison Committee and the COLLA Continuing Professional Development Committee. She is a member of the Carleton Place Chamber of Commerce and of 100 Women Who Care (Lanark County). She also volunteers with Lanark Community Justice.
Before moving to Ottawa for University, Teresa was raised in Alberta and completed high school in the small town of Rossland, British Columbia. She currently resides just outside of Carleton Place with her husband and their busy young children. Between meeting the demands of her law practice and shuffling children to various activities, Teresa enjoys reading and tap dancing!
